MODULE 1: INTRODUCTION

Ready to take the first steps in your pro wrestling journey? In our first module we preview the huge amount of information that will be coming your way during the rest of the course, we help you to think about the kind of role in the business that’s best for you, and help you set tangible goals that will keep you accountable and motivate you along the road to success.

MODULE 2: WRESTLING HISTORY

Humans have been wrestling each other throughout the history of civilisation, but the industry we now recognise as pro wrestling started to develop in the early 20th Century. In this module we take you through over 100 years of wrestling history, so that you’re up to speed on the business you’re entering into. To know where the artform is going, you need to know where it’s been.

MODULE 3: WRESTLING PSYCHOLOGY I

Professional wrestling is one of the most psychologically fascinating forms of entertainment on the planet, so we have dedicated two separate modules to this vital part of the business. In the first of these we look at why wrestling has a universal appeal, what makes a ‘babyface’ and a ‘heel’, and we take a deep dive into the seven key elements of a basic wrestling match.

MODULE 4: BECOMING A WRESTLER

Learning to become a professional wrestler requires a lot of things. First, you need at least a good foundation of strength, stamina and flexibility. Second, you need to make good decisions when choosing your trainer and school. Third, you need creativity in developing your character and standing out from the crowd. This module will help you to do all of those things and more.

MODULE 5: BECOMING A PROMOTER

Being a wrestling promoter is a tough challenge, and being a successful one is even tougher. There are so many things you have to consider: who is your audience? Where will you run shows? What equipment do you need? What talent should you book? How much should it all cost? We cover all this and much more in a module bursting at the seams with actionable advice.

MODULE 6: BEING A BOOKER

Getting to decide who’s fighting who and how it will all play out sounds like a dream job, right? In reality, being a booker is an often-thankless task that needs exactly the right mix of creativity, pragmatism and people management skills. But if you can get all of that right, then maybe it can be a dream come true. This module will give you the best chance possible of doing it well.

MODULE 7: WRESTLING PSYCHOLOGY II

Our second module on psychology looks at how you can play around with standard wrestling tropes to mix things up and keep your audience guessing. That might involve tinkering with the traditional seven points of a match or adding various smoke and mirrors - but ultimately, the goal is the same: to help your audience suspend their disbelief and lose themselves in the world you’re creating.

MODULE 8: OTHER ON-SCREEN TALENT

Not everyone can be, or even wants to be, an in-ring competitor. Luckily there are several other on-screen roles that are vital to the presentation of a quality wrestling show, and in this module we take a look at four of the most important. If you’ve ever considered being a commentator, referee, ring announcer or a manager then this is the module for you.

MODULE 9: BREAKING INTO WRESTLING MEDIA

The massive growth in online wrestling media has exponentially increased the number of people who are able to make their full-time living from the industry - and it might be just the role for you too. Whether your plan is to go it alone or to join an established wrestling media brand, there are plenty of important things you need to know, and in this module we’ve got you covered.

MODULE 10: BREAKING IN THE RIGHT WAY

Once you’re ready to seek work with a wrestling promotion, you want to maximise your chances of being noticed. First impressions are crucial - so it’s essential to start building a positive reputation from the moment you make contact with anyone in the business, and then to build on that when you get the chance to work with your new peers for the same time. Here we’ll discuss how to do just that.

MODULE 11: BECOMING A SUCCESS

Once you’ve got that all-important foot in the door, how can you ensure you seize the opportunity with both hands? From building on your first successes all the way through to potentially being signed by a major wrestling company, it’s important that you’re always trying to improve, and that you can withstand any bumps in the road.
